Happy hour in Puerto Vallarta

Is it happy Hour yet? There is an old saying “its 5 o’clock somewhere, which Wikipedia explains as a popular expression used to justify drinking at any time of day, given that somewhere in the world it’s 5:00 p.m. (which is considered an acceptable time to start drinking). There are many songs dedicated to this philosophy as well – see below. However in any Resort Destination with a reputation as being fun this is taken to another level. The Happy Hour –which makes it not only acceptable to drink but you almost cannot afford not to, as the drinks are 2 for the price of one. In Puerto Vallarta it’s always Happy Hour somewhere, sometimes in the morning so if one is organized you can be “Happy” all day and into the night. There are even a few venues that say “Happy Hour All day everyday”. Well it does not get much happier than that. That said some of my favorite Happy hour spots are in no particular order Joe Jacks Fish Shack (you can eat as well as drinking) Daiquiri Dicks – see the sunset and have lunch or dinner, Located on popular Los Muertos Beach, best place for people watching. River Café, located along the River (Rio) Cuale surrounded by what feels like Rain Forest, with resident iguanas and La Palapa located on Los Muertos Beach, a local landmark. Our friends at Wikipedia go on to further define Happy Hour as the below. Happy hour is a marketing term for a period of time in which a public venue, such as a restaurant, bar, bowling alley, stadium, or state/county fair, offers discounts on alcoholic drinks, such as beer, wine, and cocktails. Typically, it is in the late afternoon Monday through Thursday, usually taking place at some period between 4 PM and 8 PM. Many bars also have a late night happy hour for afternoon shift workers from 10 PM-1 AM. This promotion is intended to boost business on what may otherwise be a slow day. In most cases the “happy hour” lasts longer than a single hour. The term also is commonly used to describe the gathering of work colleagues at a restaurant or bar after work hours, possibly outside the usual period. [Citation needed] or vice versa. The specifics usually differ from country to country. In some European countries like the Netherlands, the price of an alcoholic drink is regulated, and selling them at half price is prohibited. During happy hour, a customer gets double the amount of drinks instead. In Italy, a customer often pays the same price or even more for the drink but is offered free finger foods. In the United States it typically entails finger foods and discounted drinks. Happy hour can also be referred to as the period prior to dinner, where appetizers and drinks are served at one’s home. It’s Five O’clock Somewhere” is a song performed by Alan Jackson with Jimmy Buffett, and written by Jim “Moose” Brown and Don Rollins. It was released in June 2003 as the lead single from Jackson’s 2003 compilation album Greatest Hits Volume II. It spent eight non-consecutive weeks at Number One on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in summer of 2003. In addition, the song hit number 17 on the US Hot 100; making it the biggest pop hit Jackson and the first top forty for Buffett since the seventies. On November 5, 2003, it also won the Country Music Association (CMA) Award for Vocal Event of the Year. The song became the #3 country song of the decade on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart.
