Construction projects and emergency repairs are a necessary (although disruptive) situations we have to deal with. A few simple tips will help minimize the inconvenience. First of all, it is important to realize that most construction will take place during the months of June – October. This is the norm for most existing buildings (Condos & Villas). So if you are planning a trip ask your rental agency if they are aware of any construction scheduled during those dates. The agency may or may not know but they can check with the building or owner to see if they have any information. Construction at any of these properties are usually pre-scheduled in advance and the building will know about it.
In the case of a condo building, your particular unit may not be having any construction but another unit(s) in the building might be on the schedule. It’s good to try and find out what is being scheduled and where so you can make your decision if you want to book that particular unit. But what about emergency repairs? An emergency repair can happen at any time and as a renter, we must understand the situation and not get upset with the building management or rental agency. An emergency is just that…. an emergency! So try to be patient and understanding. They building will do their best to have the repairs done as soon as possible. In the case of a villa, any scheduled repairs will be arranged in advance, the calendar will be blocked off during those dates and not available during that time frame.
Commercial construction is a different story. Commercial construction can go on year round and are not restricted by any certain dates. Most construction hours whether it is a condo, villa or commercial project are between the hours of 8 am to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday.
We hope this information is helpful and will assist you in planning the perfect vacation !
